Artistic Director Andrea Ariel traveled to Madrid, Spain for the 26th International Soundpainting Think Tank held at the Escuela de Música y Danza de Alcobendas. Over 25 multidisciplinary artists from all over the world gathered to further their work with Soundpainting with the creator and master Walter Thompson. The abundance of creativity and inspiration was astounding. Gathered for a week, the group explored the multitude of gestures used for the art of live composition in performance as well as the applications of this work in education, mind-body connections and wellness.
On that note, we are very excited to announce that as an independent producer Andrea Ariel has been awarded a City of Austin, Live Music Fund Grant for a Soundpainting project with the band Frederico7 y Los Primes. The concert will feature music from F7 y Los Primes debut album Exótico Americano. The live-composed improvisations will be drawn from these songs, deconstructing and remixing them in the moment. This uniquely innovative show fuses Afro-Brazilian rhythms with American Funk, Soul, Dub and a dash of Psychedelia. More details about when and where this performance will happen to come!
